COLD SPRING HARBOR LABORATORY - HILLSIDE CAMPUS

This American Institute of Architects and National Society of Civil Engineering Award Winning Project was a complete ground up construction of 100,000 square foot laboratory and collaborative office campus.  This consisted of six multi-story buildings specifically designed and constructed to house cutting edge research into Autism, Cancer, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's and other cognitive disorders.  The six buildings were connected by an underground common structure which house spaces for electron microscopes and a Computational Research Facility that housed at the time the fifth fastest supercomputer in the world.  The grounds around the buildings held environmentally friendly rain gardens and retention ponds with dual cascading stairs which take advantage of the hillside that the facility was built into, which had an eighty foot change of elevation.
